This series will answer all those questions and many more in vivid, easy to understand terms. The series is be presented by PAUL MARTIN, famous for his long-running BBC2 antique-hunting series ‘Flog It!’. Paul’s knowledge and enthusiasm will be matched by a light-hearted but informative visual approach, heightened by archive footage bringing his words to life.

Among the subjects we will touch on are COLOUR PHOTOGRAPHY and how it painted the screen, the coming of SOUND, the secrets of the CUTTING-ROOM floor (and how not to end up on it!) and the magical processes of the film LABORATORY. We’ll follow the rushes through the night and see them the next morning. We’ll explore the mysteries of FILM DISTRIBUTION (where do they store all those prints after they have played the cinemas?), the development of the PROJECTOR, CONTINUITY, COSTUMES, MAKE-UP, ANIMATION, PUBLICITY, ADVERTISING,the STUDIOS, and the real role of the ACTOR.
